  • FCCPTA's Links of Value - The Fairfax County Council maintains a helpful link to other educational sites.
  • Internet Safety Resources

  • Watch D.O.G.S. (Dad’s of Great Students)- is the safe school initiative of the National Center for Fathering that involves fathers and father figures to help create a more safe and secure learning environment in our nation's schools.
  • S.A.F.E-D (Student’s, Adults, Faculty, educating Drivers) is launching a "Speaker Series." Headquartered in Fairfax County, S.A.F.E-D is a non-profit organization that is passionate, dedicated, and committed to making teens and their parents aware of the consequences, affects, and responsibility of driving.
  • Is your Tween Wired?
    The places we hung out as teens…the mall, the playground, and the school are rapidly being replaced by virtual spaces and places.  Does your teen have his/her own MySpace and/or Facebook page?  You may be surprised to learn that most do and that it is there that they do most of their social networking.   • Best Ed Sites - This site has received numerous awards including "Busy Educator Award" and "Award of Excellence" from the Teacher's Corner. The site contains links to games and activities, literature, math, science, social studies, cool experiments, and museums of the world, to name just a few.
  • Great Educational Web Sites - Another great starting point for links to hundreds of web sites in all subject and interest areas.
  • Sites for Teachers - This site provides tons of links to information for teachers and are listed in rank order by popularity.
  • Fun Brain- Online educational games for kids of all ages
  • Homeschool.com's Top 100 web sites - These sites were selected on the basis of the following questions: - Is the site educational?; Is the site well organized and easy to use?; Does the site make good use of the latest Internet technology?; and Is the site interesting and informative?
  • US Department of Education - Loads of information on the No Child Left Behind legislation as well as other helpful information such as the Department of Ed's PBS educational broadcast and filming schedule.
  • American Library Association - A comprehensive list of great web sites for kids.

Fairfax County has launched two registries, Medical Needs and Social Needs, to assist vulnerable residents in the event of an emergency. The registries may be used for any emergency requiring evacuation, such as flooding, hurricanes, hazardous material spills and gas leaks.

 

The Unified Prevention Coalition of Fairfax County Public Schools is a new resource web site  dedicated to promoting prevention and early intervention for violence and drug use in our community
