2018 VA PTA ANNUAL MEETING & ADVOCACY CONFERENCE, January 27-28:  Early Bird Registration fee of $95 ends today at 11:55 p.m. so if you’ve been waiting to register – do it today and save $30 off the Regular Registration fee which begins tomorrow!  Register now to attend the inaugural VA PTA Annual Meeting & Advocacy Conference, January 27-28, 2018, Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center, Glen Allen. We are also hosting a Legislators Fireside Chat Reception with our state legislators on Sunday afternoon as an opportunity for PTA members to meet with their state representatives in a social setting. Information will be provided to our registrants about how to contact their legislators to provide a personal invitation for them to attend the Reception and to schedule appointments for the PTA Day at the General Assembly on Monday, January 29.

We also wanted to share some important dates and information for 2018!

MEMBERSHIP:  Thanks to all of our District PTAs who submitted their membership dues by the December 1 submission date!  With the new membership data system in place, we know there have been some challenges for our local PTAs and we are here to support your efforts to be in good standing.  If you have not yet subscribed to the membership data program as required or submitted your membership dues, please see the process located on the home page of Virginia PTA and National PTA is providing step by step enrollment process and several video tutorials at:

Many of our PTAs have increased their membership over last  year’s numbers and we look forward to celebrating their growth at our Spring District Annual Meeting!  We so appreciate your efforts to engage your school community with PTA!

SAVE THE DATE:  NOVA District PTA has been awarded a National PTA grant to host Safer Internet National Day on Tuesday, February 6!  This grant is provided by LifeLock and their Smart Talk program offered to PTA members across the nation.  There are only four states presenting this event on February 6 and NOVA District PTA is proud to represent Virginia PTA by hosting the event in our district!  We will hold this panel forum at Luther Jackson Middle School auditorium at 7 p.m. with complimentary dinner being served at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Please save this date and Panel members and registration details will be provided in early January! DAY in RICHMOND:  Plan to attend PTA Advocacy Day at the General Assembly on Monday, January 29.  NOVA District is arranging appointments with as many of our legislators as possible and we’ll offer a Sign-Up Genius for you to schedule time to meet with your senator and delegate!  Our VA PTA Annual Meeting & Advocacy Conference registrants will provide workshops on all levels of advocacy and includes all the conference events.  We are also offering stand alone registration fees for PTA Day legislation training on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. with the option of including the Legislator Fireside Chat reception. You must register through the online Conference Registration link – so please join us to speak up for the school districts in NOVA!



February 1:  Just a quick reminder the District Citizenship Essay application submission is due by February 1!  CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

March 1:  Other District Award applications will be distributed after the holidays so look for: Local Unit of the Year; Outstanding Administrator of the Year; Outstanding Educator or Staff Member of the Year; District Volunteer of the Year.
