  • Everything you've heard about government benefits is correct. They're some of the best available — and include a wide range of choices.
  • FCPS pays the majority of the premiums for your medical and dental benefits — typically 70-80%, depending on the type of plan and carrier selected if you work 50% or more of a regular contract.
  • Medical Plans You have your choice of PPO, POS, EPO or HMO from CareFirst, Aetna and Kaiser Permanente, plus prescription coverage.
  • Dental Preferred Provider and Dental Maintenance Organizations plans are both offered to meet your unique needs.
  • Health Care Flexible Spending Accounts It's possible for you to save on taxes because we allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars for eligible health care and dependent care expenses.
  • Retirement If you work at least 50% of a regular contract, you will automatically be enrolled in the mandatory Fairfax County Employees' Retirement System (FCERS). You can also choose to make pre-tax contributions to a 457(b) and/or 403(b) retirement savings account.
  • Life Insurance Basic term life insurance is available through your membership in the Fairfax County Employees' Retirement System. Additional coverage for your spouse and dependents is also available for purchase.
  • Long-Term Care Insurance This is an optional plan available at group rates that provides for nursing home or assisted living expenses for you, your spouse, parents and parents-in-law.
  • Paid Time Off You can accrue sick and personal leave based on the number of months worked per year.
  • More Programs Other benefits include paid holidays and our Employee Assistance Program, Emergency Fund, Tuition Reimbursement and ongoing Career Development and Training.

To learn more about these benefits, schedule yourself for a non-obligation bus driver information briefing thorough the FCPS Application Center 571 423.000, M-F from 8 AM to 4:30 PM or contact Phyllis Layne through email at Phyllis.layne@fcps.edu
