FCPS is in the process of finalizing its restraint and seclusion policy before the state deadline of Jan 1, 2021. In advance of the scheduled FCPS School Board vote on December 17th, the Fairfax County Special Education PTA (SEPTA) and the Fairfax County Council PTA (FCCPTA), have joined together to advocate for schools to be free from restraint and seclusion. In order for the community and policymakers to understand this difficult issue, we present this award winning documentary, “The Kids We Lose,” which outlines the challenges AND the solutions.
“The Kids We Lose” is a documentary that exposes the often brutal, inhumane ways in which our kids with social, emotional, and behavior challenges are treated in schools, inpatient psychiatric units, residential facilities, and prisons. These are the kids we lose. When we don’t help our most vulnerable kids, we all lose. And it’s all so very unnecessary
The film will begin at 7:00 pm and lasts approximately 90 minutes. It will be followed by an advocacy discussion and wellness debrief. The only way to view this event is to register and join as it will not be recorded.
WARNING: While this film contains critically important information, it is also graphic.
