The NOVA District PTA is pleased to announce the rescheduling of its Annual Meeting/Awards Celebration for Tuesday, May 26 at 7:00PM. To comply with current federal and state guidance concerning covid-19, the event will take place virtually. While it is disappointing that this signature event will not be held in person, NOVA District PTA is determined that it celebrates the achievements, advocacy, and creativity of its members, leaders, and students throughout the Northern Virginia region.

SPECIAL GUEST – EILEEN FILLER-CORN, 56TH SPEAKER, VA HOUSE OF DELEGATES
NOVA District PTA is also pleased to have Eileen Filler-Corn, 56th Speaker, Virginia House of Delegates, as its special guest for its event. Speaker Filler-Corn is the first woman in the 400-year history of Virginia’s General Assembly to hold the position. The Honorable Speaker is was active on her local PTA board while her children were students in the Fairfax County public school system. Speaker Filler-Corn will provide a brief 2020 legislative session wrapup, discuss various resources available for families and students in dealing with the covid-19 crisis, and answer your important questions.
Like many of its local PTA/PTSAs, NOVA District PTA will briefly conduct business during the annual meeting portion, which includes the FY2020-21 budget and officer elections. The NOVA District PTA Nominating Committee has released its slate of nominees for the 2020-2020 term:

Honored Guest – Donna Columbo, President, Virginia PTA
During the annual meeting, event attendees will also hear from another honored guest, Donna Colombo, President, Virginia PTA. The Virginia PTA is one of the largest congresses of the 54 congresses within the National PTA. It serves over 200,000 members in over 1200 local units within twenty-one geographic districts, including the NOVA District.
NOVA District PTA needs your attendance, participation, and support! NOVA District PTA Annual Meetings are open to all of its 225 local PTA/PTSAs members. Only local PTA/PTSAs in good standing will be able to vote accordingly on any and all business items.
AWARD CELEBRATION AND RECOGNITION OF MEMBERS AND LEADERS
NOVA District PTA award recognitions include: District Volunteers of the Year (Elementary and Secondary), District Outstanding Educator of the Year, District Outstanding PTA, and STEAM Awards.
