Celebrating Community Efforts to Support Fairfax County Students and Teachers

The NOVA District PTA was proud to represent its 170+ PTAs/PTSAs and 45,000+ members in Fairfax County at the 2018 Annual FCPS State of Education Luncheon on November 27 at the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church. The proceeds from the event go towards SOAR teacher grants.

The event brought together the business community, education community, and nonprofit community to recognize and celebrate ongoing efforts to ensure Fairfax County students are ready for the global economy. Congratulations to all the 2018 finalists and awardees, including Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia for winning the 2018 FCPS Community Partner Award, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for winning the 2018 FCPS Workforce Development Award, and Apple Federal Credit Union for winning the 2018 FCPS Business Partner Award.

It takes an entire community to come together to build and maintain a world-class education system. Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is the 10th largest school system in the nation with 188,000+ students. FCPS boasts that nearly 92 percent of FCPS students graduate on time (in four years of high school), and more than 89 percent plan to pursue post-secondary education.
