NOVA District PTA hosted its annual fall leadership training on September 29 at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke. The event provided an opportunity for PTA local leaders and volunteers from across the Northern Virginia region to come together to receive professional and volunteer development on various issues, including leadership, the National PTA Reflections Program, effective use of social media for advocacy and membership, membership database, membership engagement, family engagement, and many more. Participants also had opportunities to share best practices and concerns with each other concerning a host of issues, including membership, diversity/inclusion, and advocacy.
Monitor this post for additional summary items, including event powerpoint presentations and resource information. Here are just some of the PTA tools/resources that were discussed by presenters and participants that all PTA leaders/volunteers should know about and leverage in their roles at their schools. It is important to note that as a member of a local school PTA/PTSA, you are also a member of the Council PTA (Arlington, Fairfax County, or Alexandria), NOVA District PTA, Virginia PTA, and the National PTA.
